MORE THAN EQUIPMENT
Why Water Management Matters
Reliable irrigation matters because crops, greenhouse plants, nursery stock, and turf depend on controlled water delivery. The right pumps, pipes, sprinklers, drip components, valves, timers, and system services help customers manage water where it is needed. Columbus Irrigation keeps those practical needs central, connecting equipment knowledge with agricultural conditions, maintenance demands, system performance, and goals.
OUR STORY
Field Knowledge Became Business
Columbus Irrigation’s story connects farming roots with decades of practical irrigation knowledge. From Dan Kamburoff’s farm in Kent to the business near Ashland, each chapter reflects agriculture, relationships, growth, and changing irrigation needs.
From Kent To Ashland
Dan Kamburoff was the last farmer in the city of Kent, Ohio, where he raised vegetables and sweet corn and sold them at the family farm market on Fairchild Avenue. While farming in Portage County, Dan was active in the Farm Bureau and served as county president. He also served as a Kent City Councilman. As farmland surrounding his operation continued changing, Dan decided to move his family to a farm just south of Ashland, Ohio.
An Opportunity Takes Root
In 2002, Dan attended the Farm Science Review with his wife, Julia. There, he stopped to speak with Bob Webb, an old friend who had supplied Dan with irrigation equipment over the years. Bob explained that he was considering retirement after 40 years in the irrigation business and asked whether Dan would consider taking over and purchasing the company. With the practical irrigation knowledge Dan had gained through years of farming, the transition was a natural fit, and a deal was made.
Growing From The Farm
After taking over the business, Dan relocated the operation to his farm south of Ashland, using a shop he had recently constructed to restore two-cylinder John Deere tractors. His territory grew to include Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, and New York. Columbus Irrigation carries equipment ranging from micro-sprinklers to large travelers, drip tape to large water guns, and 5-horsepower transfer pumps to 100-horsepower PTO pumps, covering irrigation equipment and supplies across a broad range of agricultural needs.
